Horses

The Barunga West Council's unique coastal landscape is a fragile ecosystem. Our beaches offer a variety of recreational activities for locals and tourist alike. Horse riding and training on our beaches is one of these activities.

Access is permitted at several locations and owners are asked to assist us in keeping our beaches clean and safe for all users by following the simple guidelines outlined outlined below.

Permits

Permits are available from the Council Office and are free of charge. Owners must be able to present permit when requested and adhere to the terms and conditions outlines on the permit. Fines will apply to any persons taking horses onto the beach without a permit and also to any person taking a horse onto any section of beach where horses are not permitted.

Permitted Areas

Horses are permitted access to the beach at Port Broughton between Beach Access Points 2 and 4 at all times. Horses without jog carts or other horse drawn vehicles are permitted on the beach at Tickera.
