Community Land Management Plans

Community Lands Management Plan

Currently under review 2022

Section 207 of the Local Government Act 1999 ('the Act') requires that all councils keep a register of the community land in its area.

All local government land (except roads) that is owned by a council or under a council's care, control and management is classified as community land, unless the council resolves to exclude the land from classification as community land.

The Community Land Register for the Barunga West Council meets all requirements under the Act by providing the following information:

  • A legal description of the land
  • The street address
  • Name by which the land is commonly known
  • Area of the land
  • Name of the owner
  • Details of the lease or licence over the land
  • Current Community Land Management Plan

While categories for community land are not specifically defined in the Act, it includes areas set aside for public use or conservation purposes, such as reserves and recreation and sporting facilities.
