Work resumes on Port Broughton industrial land

Barunga West Council has resumed work on its Hornby Road industrial land, with development moving ahead to create fully serviced allotments for businesses in the region.

Council staff this week began levelling works on the site, the first step in preparing the land for power connection and road construction.

On her first day back from extended leave, Chief Executive Officer Maree Wauchope authorised $157,000 worth of works to connect the estate to existing high-voltage infrastructure on the highway. This upgrade will deliver a 420 kVA load to service the new industrial land, with trenching, conduit laying and backfilling scheduled for November. Road construction for the estate is planned for early next year.

Mayor Leonie Kerley said the industrial development was a priority project for Council.

“Council has asked Maree to continue the work we began in 2024, including delivering the essential infrastructure needed for this industrial area to succeed,” Mayor Kerley said.

“This is a clear priority for us, and I’m pleased to see Council’s team already out on site progressing the works to bring this project to life for our community and region.”

Six allotments are now on the market, ranging in size from 2,500 m² to 18,325 m² and priced between $95,000 and $490,000. The blocks are zoned for a variety of business uses, including service trades, light industry, fabrication, warehousing and tourism or agricultural support. The allotments are dry blocks, with developments required to provide 288,000 litres of rainwater storage, including 144,000 litres reserved for firefighting in line with CFS and SA Planning rules.

The land release represents a rare opportunity to secure prime serviced industrial allotments in a thriving regional centre close to Port Pirie and Adelaide. More information, including pricing and lot sizes, is available at: www.broughtonrealty.com.au
