These artistic light projections aim to provide vibrant displays that enhance the Square’s welcoming atmosphere. A gobo disc is a stencil or template placed inside a projector to create patterned or shaped light displays.
Council has approved the purchase of the following new gobo designs:
- Christmas Cheer
- Red Poppy (for ANZAC Day commemorations)
- Cross Reversed (to highlight Easter celebrations).
The versatile Tunnel Dots disc will continue to provide a stunning ambient display for everyday use in the square.
The gobo lighting, an integral feature of the redeveloped Civic Square, has already transformed the space into a central community hub since its opening last month. The light displays not only add to the Square’s ambiance but also helps to draw visitors from beyond the local community, further boosting regional tourism.
Barunga West Mayor Leonie Kerley said: “The gobo lighting system is a simple yet striking way to make the Civic Square a dynamic and memorable place for residents and visitors. By commemorating major events and holidays with these vibrant displays, we are reinforcing the Square’s role as a gathering point and celebrating our shared community values."
The newly approved discs will cost around $640. To ensure safety during the installation of these discs, the task will continue to be undertaken by qualified electricians.
