Barunga West Council Chief Executive Officer Mark McDonald said both the Feast on the Foreshore and Seaside Markets created a strong atmosphere and reinforced the town’s position as a destination over Easter.
“The weather was ideal across the weekend and that set the tone for both events,” Mr McDonald said.
“The atmosphere on the foreshore was excellent and the feedback we’ve received from the community and visitors has been very positive.”
Seven food trucks operated at the Feast on the Foreshore, with some vendors selling out before the end of the event and all indicating they wanted to return next year.
“That’s a strong result and shows there’s real demand for this event. It’s also a positive sign for our local and visiting operators,” Mr McDonald said.
Live music from Ethan Davis, who performed from 4pm, helped maintain a steady crowd throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
The Seaside Markets also drew strong attendance, with more than 50 stalls set up and consistent foot traffic across the day.
Mr McDonald said a mix of family-friendly attractions contributed to the markets’ success, including a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Popular stalls included Doree Massage Therapy, offering neck and shoulder massages, while Infinity Braids and glitter tattoos proved particularly popular with children.
“These events are about more than just the day itself. They support local businesses, bring the community together and create a welcoming environment for visitors,” Mr McDonald said.
Council staff are now preparing for the next Seaside Markets in October.
