Port Broughton is being billed as South Australia’s “Christmas Hometown” as Barunga West Council announces its fun-filled program for this year’s festive season.

The Top of the Yorke is still the place to be as Port Broughton gets into the spirit of Christmas with a range of popular activities and attractions, promising fun and good cheer for all ages.

If you want to live and breathe Christmas this festive season, then look no further for all your Santa-related activities during Port Broughton’s Christmas Festival on Saturday, 10 December from 4pm until 9:30pm. The Festival includes:

Christmas street party from 4pm until 9pm with food trucks and children’s entertainment including face painting and a jumping castle.

The Port Broughton Christmas Pageant from 6pm with a loop route along West Terrace to the jetty and on to Bay Street, featuring a special Santa float. Two winners of a colouring-in competition for Port Broughton children aged under 10 will be selected to ride in Santa’s float. Pageant float registrations close at 5pm on Friday, 2 December.

The Lighting of the Christmas Tree will take place on the foreshore at nightfall (approximately 9pm) when Christmas carols will be sung by the Port Broughton combined churches.

Santa’s Cave, located at the Town Hall, will officially open from 7pm for families to meet and have a photo with Santa. It is expected Santa’s Cave will also be open most weekends leading up to Christmas Day.

Children should look out for a mail box where they can post their wish lists to the North Pole. The mail box will be located at different towns on the following dates:

  • Karimis Kitchen Alford: 28 November to 2 December.
  • Port Broughton Council Office: 5 December to 9 December.
