Easter Weekend events a Joyful Success

More than 1000 residents and visitors to the Top of the Yorke have come together to celebrate Easter Weekend, despite the weather not always being on our side.

The long weekend was jam-packed with activities that brought joy and entertainment to everyone who attended, with Barunga West Council’s annual Feast on the Foreshore on Good Friday being a standout event.

Visitors to Port Broughton and locals enjoyed fabulous fresh food and live music, with many bringing along their favourite picnic rug to enjoy dinner by the seaside. The feast featured six food trucks and live music, with the addition of lawn games for the first time in the event’s history, making it an even more enjoyable experience for all.

Although forecast rain shortened the event, Barunga West CEO Maree Wauchope was thrilled with the turnout. Around 1000 people enjoyed the Good Friday festivities. What’s more, all six food trucks have already re-booked for next year’s event.

The annual Easter Seaside Market on Saturday was equally successful, with more than 50 stalls set up to showcase local products and keep the crowds busy. Despite the breezy weather, around 1500 people attended throughout the day, with special guest Easter Bunny entertaining all ages and posing for photos, which was a crowd favourite.

Ms Wauchope expressed her gratitude to all who braved the weather and attended the events in true community spirit.

“We love to see how our beautiful foreshore and Port Broughton’s town centre just comes alive during important annual events like Easter festivities, and most importantly how it continues to drive our sense of community, which is what makes our region so special,” Ms Wauchope said.

“We love to welcome locals, their families, friends and visitors to our special part of the world, especially during long weekends and holiday periods, and we hope everyone had a fantastic time in our beautiful town on the Top of the Yorke.”

Barunga West Council is already planning more exciting events to bring the community together this year, so keep an eye out for future announcements. Congratulations to everyone who made Easter Weekend in Port Broughton a resounding success.
