More than 150 classic and vintage cars rolled into Port Broughton on Sunday for the Top of the Yorke’s biggest ever Show N Shine, drawing vehicle enthusiasts and visitors from across South Australia to Barunga West.

Held on the picturesque foreshore, the 2025 Port Broughton Classic and Vintage Show N Shine attracted 124 registered entries, with dozens more vehicles arriving on the day to take part.

Deputy Mayor Peter Button said the event had grown steadily since it began five years ago and this year reached capacity.

“What a brilliant day on the foreshore – perfect weather, a fantastic turnout, and an incredible display of motoring history,” Cr Button said.

“Events like this bring a real buzz to our town and deliver a welcome boost for our local businesses. Whether you’re a car lover or just out for a family day by the water, there was something for everyone.”

Among the standout vehicles was a 1953 orange Buick Super owned by Derek Wilson, which took out the Mayor’s Choice Best Show award, sponsored by Port Broughton Hotel and Broughton IGA.

Selina Dienhoff’s black 1976 LX SS Hatchback Torana was named runner-up in the People’s Choice category, sponsored by Broughton A1 Auto Air and Mechanic and Port Broughton Home Hardware. While the top honour went to Noel and Cindy Schmidt for their 1973 red Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12, sponsored by Palate2Palette and Broughton Meat Store.

Cr Button thanked all entrants, visitors, and the community for their continued support, as well as staff, food vendors, and local performer JR Acoustic for helping deliver a memorable day. Next year’s Show N Shine is scheduled for Sunday, 31 May 2026.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back,” Cr Button said. “If this year is anything to go by, it’s going to be even bigger.”
