Council in making the decision to adopt the plan has reassured the golf club and adjacent residents that it would not be making a walking path through the reserve from Nelcebee Court, connecting the footpath along Capella Street to continue on to Fisherman Bay Road.
Maree Wauchope, CEO of Barunga West Council, said that residents and club golf members were concerned that if Council placed a walking trail along the road reserve people could get hit by golf balls.
“We understand the reserve is used quite often by golfers who can’t quite keep to the course,” Ms Wauchope said.
Community feedback received during public consultation late last year has been considered in the recommendations to Council.
