The Post Office will remain in Bute, operating from the same building under a new licensee with experience operating Australia Post-licensed Post Offices and postal delivery services across regional South Australia. The family-operated business currently operates the Crystal Brook and Port Broughton Post Offices, Redhill Community Postal Agency and associated postal delivery services.
The transition will ensure the community continues to have access to essential postal and agency services, including sending and collecting mail and parcels, purchasing stamps and postal products, accessing available Australia Post banking services, paying bills and using Post Office Boxes and parcel collection services.
The new management may also provide opportunities to introduce additional products and services over time, while maintaining the important services currently available to the Bute community.
Retaining the Post Office in Bute, especially under experienced management, is seen by Council as an important outcome for the township and the community.
While Council rates payments can still be made through the Bute Post Office, as they can at any Australia Post location across Australia, other Council services that used to be provided over the counter at the Bute Office will remain accessible to residents by phone, online or in-person through the Port Broughton Council Office. This includes making a customer request or paying a dog or cat registration.
Council is also discussing arrangements with the new licensee to retain library services in Bute. Further information will be provided once these arrangements are confirmed.
If any resident is unsure how to access a Council service, they are encouraged to contact Port Broughton Council Office, where staff can provide guidance and assistance and direct them to the appropriate service.
