Council supported Bute Golf Club throughout the grant application process, although no direct financial contribution was made by Council towards the project. The golf club was the sole sporting organisation within the Barunga West Council area to secure a portion of the $5.5 million funding in this round. Among the 44 successful applicants, 25 projects requested less than $50,000, while 19 projects fell within the $50,000 to $500,000 range.
“The Bute Golf Club is very pleased to have been successful in our application,” said Pete Daniel of Bute Golf Club.
“A big thank you to Barunga West Council for all of its help and guidance throughout the process. We are looking forward to the opportunity to now go ahead and improve our facility.”
Barunga West Council Mayor Leonie Kerley said Council was thrilled about the progress and enhancements that the Bute Golf Club will be able to offer as a result of the State Government funding injection.
“We remain committed to supporting local clubs and organisations in their ongoing endeavours to provide outstanding sporting and recreational experiences for our community and our visitors,” Mayor Kerley said.
“These enhanced recreation experiences not only enrich the lives of residents; they also entice more visitors to come and see all that our wonderful region has to offer.”
The State Government's investment of over $5.5 million will contribute to a total project value of $20,976,905, with successful applicants securing nearly $15.5 million in co-funding.
This initiative is expected to create 86 full-time jobs during the construction phase. Notably, 45 per cent of the funding from this round, amounting to $2.5 million, will be allocated to 20 regional recipients, including at Bute. The remaining funding will support 16 projects within metropolitan Adelaide and eight projects in the greater metropolitan planning area, encompassing the Barossa, Murray Bridge, and Fleurieu Peninsula
Sports Minister Katrine Hildyard commended the dedication of the hardworking volunteers in local sporting clubs and organisations, who tirelessly fundraised and invested significant efforts into their funding applications.
Minister Hildyard emphasised the vital role that sporting clubs play in improving the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of South Australians and fostering a sense of belonging within communities.
“This funding is about improving facilities for the future and helping clubs to be more inclusive and accessible for current and new participants,” she said.
“I am really proud that this funding will support the efforts of clubs as they go about supporting and including people in their communities through sport and recreation.”
