Be part of the conversation to create a healthier, happier community

What makes you feel happy, healthy and connected in the community?

Whether it's having opportunities to be active, access to healthy choices, or simply feeling a sense of belonging, the things that support our wellbeing are shaped by the communities we create together.

That’s why Copper Coast Council and Barunga West Council, in partnership with Preventive Health SA, are inviting community members to be part of a conversation aimed at creating a healthier, happier future for the Upper Yorke Peninsula region.

Feedback will help the Upper Yorke Peninsula Preventive Health partnership to design and deliver initiatives that will help people stay healthier for longer and reduce the impact of preventable disease.

Local residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas about what helps people stay healthy by writing on a Community Conversation Wall and completing a survey.

The walls will be displayed across the region from Thursday 22 October to Wednesday 18 November:

Barunga West Locations:

  • Port Broughton IGA
  • Port Broughton Community Library
  • Barunga Village
  • Barunga by the Sea
  • Bute Post Office

For residents wanting to provide more detailed feedback, the survey will remain open until Wednesday 18 November  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B8P9XBX

Preventive Health Officer Sam Johnson said understanding what matters most to local people is essential to creating meaningful and lasting change.

“The walls are about providing a visual conversation starter for residents to stop and consider what being healthy really means to them and consider their own ideas and others’ viewpoints about how to improve the wellbeing of our community.”

Mayor Roslyn Talbot (Copper Coast Council)
"Healthy communities are built together. When people feel connected, included and able to contribute, everyone benefits. This conversation is about listening to our communities and creating the conditions for people of all ages to live healthy, fulfilling lives.”

Mayor Leonie Kerley (Barunga West Council)
"The Upper Yorke Peninsula is a wonderful place to live, and we want to ensure it continues to be a place where people feel healthy, connected and supported. This project is about bringing people together to imagine what an even better future could look like."
