On these designated days, staff are encouraged to dress casually and contribute a gold coin donation. At the end of the year, the total amount raised will be used to support a charity chosen by the staff.
This year, after thoughtful consideration, the Council staff have decided to use the funds to purchase supplies for the Port Broughton Community Food Pantry. This local initiative provides essential support to those in need, and the staff are proud to contribute in a meaningful way.
Barunga West Council CEO Maree Wauchope highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying, casual workwear days are more than just a relaxed dress code, they’re an opportunity for our team to come together in support of our community.
“The new community food pantry is a wonderful initiative that has already done incredible work, and we’re proud to assist in helping local families,” Ms Wauchope said.
The Council hopes that this initiative not only strengthens team spirit but also makes a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most in the Barunga West region.
The Pantry is currently located on the external wall of the Council and Police building in the centre of Port Broughton. For those interested in contributing donations can be placed directly into the pantry or brought to the Council office.
