Since joining the Council in March 2020, Ms Wauchope has displayed unwavering dedication to the region's growth and future prosperity. Her background in construction and infrastructure, both in private and public sectors, has positioned her as a vital asset for the Top of the Yorke's lifestyle and economic progression.
Ms Wauchope said the district is in a unique position given it is located so close to Adelaide and offers a great lifestyle, strong services and fantastic leisure and recreational facilities.
Ms Wauchope is determined to finalise rezoning measures to guarantee a consistent supply of both residential and industrial land for the Barunga West region, so it has a growing population and good economic growth.
One of the significant projects Ms Wauchope is spearheading is the freeholding of Fisherman Bay, anticipated for completion later this year, which will pave the way for $1.5 million of plumbing works to the wastewater system starting from February next year.
Highlighting her expertise, in September, Ms Wauchope delivered a presentation at the Australian Local Government Association's National Local Roads, Transport, and Infrastructure Conference in Canberra. The presentation centred on the challenges associated with providing affordable housing infrastructure.
Earlier this month, Ms Wauchope was appointed to the board of Barunga Village, a community-focused not-for-profit aged care provider located in Port Broughton. The unpaid board appointment will see Ms Wauchope apply her expertise in infrastructure and development to assist Barunga West’s largest employer to realise its ambitious vision for expansion and development, particularly of land adjacent to Barunga by the Sea.
She also serves as a member of the CEO Advisory Group of the Local Government Association of South Australia and the Construction Industry Training Board.
Ms Wauchope said: “Council's strategies have significantly elevated Barunga West's recognition locally and on the national stage. My objective is to spotlight the challenges in regional South Australia, as well as the innovative solutions councils like Barunga West are formulating, and to keep on delivering for our state and our community.”
