Patrol Grading is carried out throughout the year on Council’s road network.

Council has three (3) Grading Contractors continuously grading and maintaining roads within Council.

Council staff complete construction and re-sheeting of roads as scheduled within the current budget. 

Roads are constantly monitored by Staff and Elected Members, areas of concern dealt with in the most appropriate manner taking into consideration priority, finance and proximity of plant. 

Any concerns relating to Council roads can be reported to Council through various means:

-           Written Letter

-           Submit a Customer Request through Council’s websiteor request a Customer Request at either the Port Broughton or Bute Council offices during normal business hours or via telephone

-           Email Council at:  barunga@barungawest.sa.gov.au

Reporting road hazards on DPTI – (The Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure) roads:

You should report any hazards that present a risk to the safety of road users.
Hazards may include:

  • debris on the road (eg. a fallen tree, gravel, glass)
  • the need for road maintenance
  • damaged safety railing or guardrails
  • an animal causing a traffic hazard on a roadway.

Reporting a hazard:

  • Make a note of the hazard’s location.
  • If possible, identify a landmark that will make the location easy to find.

Infrastructure – Roads Assessment Methodology

Council’s Infrastructure – Roads Assessment Methodology has been formulated to provide priority data for Council’s road network.  This methodology helps provide a framework to assess which roads are scheduled for Capital Works and assists in the formulation of current and future budgets.
