Rubbish and Recycling
Kerbside Garbage Collection
Bins must be correctly placed before 7am on collection day, preferably the night before (collection can take place any time between 7am and 5pm on the day.)
Waste and Recycling Collection Dates:
- Every Monday (weekly), General Household Waste (red lid bin)
- 1st Friday of each month, Organic Garden Waste (lime green lid bin)
- 2nd Friday of each month, Recyclables (yellow lid bin)
- 3rd Friday of each month, Paper & Cardboard (dark green lid bin)
If your bin has not been emptied, check that you have followed the guidelines and whether there is an explanatory sticker on your bin before reporting the missed collection directly to Wardles Garbage Contractors on 8825 3341.
The truck and mechanical arm must have clear access to the bin. If the truck can not access the bin, your garbage will not be collected.

Kerbside Waste Collection - Bin Contamination
Council now has access to photographic data relating to kerbside bin pick up’s by Council’s contractor Wardles.There have recently been incidences were Recycling, Greenwaste and Paper bins have been contaminated.Residents are asked to be vigilant in the use of their bins and ensure that rubbish is disposed of in the correct bin and manner.Where contamination occurs, costs to Council escalate which may impact Council’s budget.
Council will continue to monitor contamination of all bins, repeat offenders will be contacted.Reference to “what goes in which bin” can be found on the Kerbside Recycling Calendar.
Waste Disposal Sites
The Council operates the following Waste Disposal Sites:
|Monday||9.00am - 12 noon|
|Thursday||9:00am - 12 noon|
|Sunday||9:00am - 12 noon|
|Wednesday||3.00pm - 5.00pm|
2.00pm - 4.00pm
NOTE: PT Broughton Waste Transfer Station will be closed Monday 25th April 2016 for ANZAC Day
* Over Christmas and New Year both sites will be closed on 25th Dec, and 1st of Jan.
** Port Broughton site will also be closed 26th of December, but open on the 27th, 28th & 29th of Dec 2016 to accomodate.
Please be advised that ALL Waste Disposal Sites will be closed on Total Fire Ban days.
Both sites charge a range of fees depending on quantities and efforts are made to recycle as many products as possible.
