Youth Advisory Council Event - 2012
A bucking bull, Medieval jesters, bouncy boxing ring and lots of meat pies were just some of the activities taking place at the Port Broughton foreshore last week as celebrations of the National Youth Week 2012 commenced.
With this year’s theme being IMAGINE. CREATE. INSPIRE, the Barunga West Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) headed up by District Council of Barunga West’s Tamara Harrison, Port Broughton Area School’s Dave Remfrey, & Volunteer Lori Ireland deemed the celebration as “TIME WARP” under the sub-theme of “Medieval times”.
The event held on April 19th was timed perfectly, just before these cooler days, with the weather proving to be perfect for the day’s activities.
Criteria for participation is for anyone aged between 12 and 24 years with local as well as visiting youth encouraged to attend. All entertainment and games are offered at no charge with 60 youth participating on the day.
Various competitions were held on the day and the following participants deemed winners were:-
Boxing Bouncy Competition -Riley Tattersall (males) and Tait Mackrill (females).
Bull Ride Competition - Thomas Tancock.
Pie Eating Competition - Kane Bowley
Best Dressed on the Day - Tom Walton!
Well done to everyone who joined in the fun.
The committee of YAC would like to take this opportunity to thank the Fisherman’s Bay Progress Association for cooking the barbecue lunch and the ladies of “Jitter Beans” for not only providing the coffee and drinks but for also joining in to the spirit of the day by dressing up in their Jester costumes. Also to Mag’s Mosaics for coming along and adding to the atmosphere.
We look forward to continuing the support of our youth and can’t wait for next year.
